WHAT WE DO

Our teams train regularly with internal and external search and rescue resources and are comfortable working with law enforcement, ground crews, boat operators, snowmobiles and 4 wheelers. Typical searches include overdue recreationalists, missing children, body recoveries, drownings, and cold-case human remains detection.

WILDERNESS AREA SEARCH

Wilderness search is important as the number of recreationalists visiting our public lands increase. Area dogs alert handlers to any humans in their search area and can cover significantly more terrain than non-dog ground teams.

HUMAN REMAINS RECOVERY

NWK9 SAR teams are certified in detection, scene management, and recovery of human remains.

WATER RECOVERY

K9s certified in shore and open water search can assist agencies in focusing resources in the correct location to aid in recovery.

AVALANCHE SEARCH

Avalanche dogs are trained to detect human scent rising up from the snow and dig until they find the victim. Avalanche dogs cover more ground in less time than several human searchers can cover, which explains their importance.

EVIDENCE SEARCH

K9s certified in evidence search are a great help when searching for clues or items in a search area.

URBAN & WILDERNESS TRAILING

K9s certified in trailing can help agencies locate subjects from a last known point in both urban and wilderness settings using a scent article of the missing person(s).

COMMUNITY OUTREACH

Not only do we provide our search and recovery services to the community, but we believe in educating the public as well on how to stay safe when out doing recreational activities. We have done presentations at local schools as well as with Boy and Girl Scouts.

Please reach out if you would like Northwest K9 to attend an education event.
